These are the teachers at Grace School who will partner with the service team this summerWhen: May 25 - June 5, 2009
Where: Tikapur, Nepal
What: Teaching conversational English to former slave children at Grace School in rural Nepal, as well as helping with service projects in basic community development. Although you will surely have an incredible experience with the people you’ll meet and the places you’ll go on this trip, it is important to remember that this is primarily a service trip, not a vacation! Prepare accordingly!
Why: Until very recently, slavery was still legal in Nepal. Our involvement began in 1999 when Marian first helped free 42 families from their slave owners. Now, there are thousands of former slave families that we are working with to bless them by doing basic community development in areas like education, water sanitation and agribusiness. The chance to be taught by native English speakers is a rare luxury for these students, and we trust you will find them irresistibly drawn to you and the Faith, Hope, and Love that you represent.
Who: This trip will be led by Marian and Gopal
Cost: The total trip cost is $2500, which includes all expenses (airfare, visas, insurance, room & board, and a donation to the projects you will be working on while you are there)
Contact: Your contact person for this trip is Carla Rogers carlarogers@comcast.net
